What does community run calendar mean?

unlike past punk/diy calendars that have served as a vital resource to our community but have been maintained by a single individual- this calendar is maintained by the community for the community. We need promoters and bands to post their events to the calendar to make it sustainable and make sure we're serving as many needs and communities as possible.

What events are DIY?

DIY is community centered and community run

We are not interested in promoting for profit events, or any event that requires attendees are required to pay any amount to attend. Every event we list is notaflof (no one turned away for lack of funds)- and is a event ran by community members to serve the needs of the community. In this spirit we go beyond just promoting punk shows and raves. We hope to be a resource to our community by also connecting them to mutual aid groups, workshops, skill shares, support groups and any other event that centers the needs of our community. We hope by creating a centralized and accessible resource for these events and information about how to start your own events, we can encourage more organizers to organize their own events and grow our small community. What is our policy on abuse?

We take structural abuse in the DIY scene seriously. We will not allow any event that directly empowers abusers. We understand this can be complex and should generally be judged on a case by case basis. When we say an event that empowers abusers - we mean an event that gives economic our social capital directly to those who've had documented and continued histories of abuse. We can not police who other organizers allow into their spaces - with exceptions for spaces where we believe the community would not be safe as a whole.
